Objectives
1. Describe the clinical indications for ED pelvis US.
2. Scanning techniques and anatomical orientation for Transabdominal and Transvaginal Scanning.
3. Describe the Normal Sonographic findings of the first trimester and discuss normal variants that may confuse the sonographer:
a. gestational sac (characteristics and positioning)
b. MSD
c. yolk sack
d. embryo
e. fetal heart rate (M-mode)
f. CRL
4. Describe subchorionic hemorrhage.
5. Describe the Sonographic findings associated with definitive pregnancy failure and pitfalls of retained products.
6. Describe the Sonographic findings associated with definitive or probable ectopic pregnancy. Discuss pseudogestational sacs.
7. Discuss the limitations and pitfalls of the 1st trimester OB examination in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy and IUP.
