Gallbladder
1. Describe the clinical indications for the exam.
2. Describe the examination technique and the standardized views.
3. Identify anatomic structures visualized during a gallbladder exam. (review images from the optional Curry chapter to cement the sonographic appearance of these landmarks)
4. Understand the clinical significant of gallbladder wall thickening.
5. Understand the sonographic appearance of polyps, sludge, and stones, and what differentiates these findings. Discuss pitfalls related to the identification of stones (neck visualization, WES sign, etc).
6. Discuss the sonographic findings of cholecystitis.
7. Discuss the sonographic appearance of the common bile duct.
Renal
1. Discuss the clinical indications of the exam.
2. Describe the examination technique and the standardized views.
3. Describe the sonographic findings of hydronephrosis. Discuss how parapelvic cysts could be confused as hydro. Discuss ureteral jets.
4. Discuss the sonographic traits of simple and complex cysts.
